Visit of the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, to Georgia
On February 23–24, 2026, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, paid an official visit to Georgia.
During the meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, the traditionally friendly relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan were noted, and the importance of further deepening parliamentary cooperation was emphasized. Attention was given to bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, transport, tourism, and cultural spheres.
Special emphasis was placed on parliamentary cooperation, including within multilateral formats. The active dynamics of high-level visits were positively assessed as a foundation for the further development of bilateral relations. Georgia’s significant role in the chain of the strategic transport corridor was highlighted, and support was expressed for the development of cooperation aimed at strengthening connectivity.
The unwavering support of Turkmenistan for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was underscored. The importance of Georgia’s support for the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan was also noted.
Within the framework of the visit, an agreement was signed between the Parliament of Georgia and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, aimed at further developing interparliamentary relations and enhancing cooperation.
As part of the visit, meetings were also held with the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, and the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze. The discussions focused on the main directions of cooperation between the two countries and the prospects for its future development.
The visit once again confirmed the readiness to deepen the partnership between Georgia and Turkmenistan in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
