The State Visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Georgia

On 16 July, 2026, the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, hosted the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, at the Orbeliani Palace. 

Following the official welcoming ceremony, President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a one-on-one meeting. 

The President of Georgia noted that Serdar Berdimuhamedov's first state visit to Georgia represents an important milestone in the development of relations between the two countries and serves as clear evidence of the strengthening of the high-level political dialogue. 

During the one-on-one meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan. Particular attention was devoted to deepening trade and economic relations, promoting investment, enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, as well as making more effective use of the strategic potential of the Middle Corridor. 

It was noted during the meeting that Georgia, as a key link connecting Europe and Asia, is interested in strengthening transit connectivity, including through the future utilization of the Black Sea ports and the Anaklia Deep Sea Port. 

The Presidents also discussed strengthening cooperation in the fields of culture, education and science. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of people-to-people contacts, the development of youth and academic exchange programmes, and support for joint cultural initiatives. 

Mikheil Kavelashvili thanked the President of Turkmenistan for his support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
