The State Visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Georgia

On 17 July, 2026, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the one-on-one meeting, the parties discussed the positive dynamics of the development of cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan in various fields. They reaffirmed their readiness to further deepen relations in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Particular attention was devoted to cooperation in the fields of transport and energy. In this context, the special importance of connectivity and the Middle Corridor was emphasized. The leaders expressed their readiness to promote the further development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route.

The Turkmen side expressed its interest in learning from Georgia's successful experience in various fields.

The meeting also underscored the importance of peace and stability for regional development and prosperity.

Following the one-on-one meeting between Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expanded-format talks were held at the Administration of the Government of Georgia with the participation of members of the governments of the two countries.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The discussion focused on the importance of deepening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and fully utilizing the existing potential in this area. In this context, the role of the Georgia–Turkmenistan Intergovernmental Commission was highlighted.

The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation both in the bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.

The discussions also covered cooperation in the fields of transport and transit. In this context, particular attention was paid to promoting the development of the Middle Corridor and to the importance of further strengthening partnership in this area.

Following the expanded-format meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, signed a Joint Statement.

Memoranda of Cooperation between the relevant authorities of the two countries were signed in the fields of finance, economy and transport, as well as healthcare, education and culture. The Prime Minister of Georgia and the President of Turkmenistan attended the ceremony for the exchange of the signed documents.
