Scientific Conference "Protection of the Caspian Sea Ecosystem: Regional Cooperation and Sustainable Development" Dedicated to Caspian Sea Day

On August 12, 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia Konstantine Sabiashvili participated in the International Conference dedicated to Caspian Sea Day, which was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

 

In his speech, the Ambassador of Georgia spoke about the importance of the Caspian Sea in terms of the development of energy, transport and transit corridors. He also spoke about the environmental security of the Caspian Sea basin, the preservation of its unique ecosystem, and the necessity of international cooperation in the field of environmental protection.

 

Konstantine Sabiashvili emphasized the role of the Black and Caspian Seas in terms of establishing efficient supply chains and expanding transport, transit and energy corridors. Particular emphasis was placed on Georgia’s strategic location and the role of the “Middle Corridor,” as well as on the large-scale infrastructure projects currently underway in Georgia, including the development of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the East-West Highway. The Ambassador stressed that Georgia, together with its regional partners, continues to deepen economic cooperation, which contributes to regional security, stability and sustainable development.
